Trust

Trust

Every creative person needs a friend—a partner that can provide feedback, encouragement, and mind meld with you.

Both Joe and I (Pat) had been writing music together for years prior to starting Rosefinch, and from all those years of writing, we got in a pretty good groove of collaborating, sharing, and providing feedback to one another. One, because we were friends, but two (and more importantly), because we trust each other.

Because of that, Rosefinch has been a collective from day one, and it is such a gift! Every piece of music that we have released has been collaborated on by the both of us.

This week, as I was wrapping up the composition of Project Storm, I was having ear fatigue. I knew it wasn’t done, but didn’t know what was missing and I had got to that place where I was too close to the music to know where to go next. I needed a second opinion. I sent it off to Joe and got back some great feedback on how to move forward. Thanks, Joe!

Now, putting yourself out there to request feedback can be hard. I’ve struggled with it for years! But, finding somebody you can trust, who wants you to succeed, can make all the difference in helping bring your art to life.

So, put yourself out there. Don’t create in a vacuum. While it is possible to create alone, I don’t recommend it. The joy of creating together is far greater. Find your friend and bring your art to life.
