Finishing Touches

I'm embracing the old adage that less is more.
Finishing Touches

For the remainder of this week, I focused on bringing some impact parts together to make the ending more punchy. You’ll notice some new staccato strings doubling the harp to contrast the legato brass and strings underneath.

I also added some subtle layering in the double basses at the end and tweaks with EQ to ensure each part has its place in the mix (more mixing to come though, this is still pretty rough).

Last thing I’ll mention is I started eliminating notes here and there in the marimba part, over a few string layers, and in the trumpets in particular. Some things just didn’t feel like they were adding to the overall feel, so rather than overplay, I opted to add a few additional rests in, ensuring every note is intentional and precise. Less is indeed more.
