[Liner Notes] A Breath You've Seen

A look behind the curtain of our music collection, "A Breath You've Seen."

A Breath You’ve Seen is a series of ambient works in D minor. When we set out to compose this collection we wanted calming pianos, synthesizers, and textures that rise and fall in intensity to musically simulate the progression of our breath. Most of us experience anxiety-laden days that lead to moments of peace; inevitably, we fall back into uncertainty (even angst) until we finally arrive at that long awaited deep breath at the end of a day. A breath of accomplishment and fulfillment of the day’s work achieved and a life well-lived. Truly, a breath we can see.

I served as lead composer on these pieces, eager to dive into some 80s sounding synthesizers and beautifully raw pianos. Each piece is a vignette to the greater narrative of the collection.

Whether you hear these songs in the next video game you play, underscoring your next essay writing session, or while you’re unwinding by the fire with those you love, we hope that you exit thinking about how your breath relates back to your existence.

Where would you listen to these songs? What visuals come to mind as you listen?
